Research for Change

“The flower that blooms in adversity is the rarest and most beautiful of all.” ~ Walt Disney

Determining program effectiveness…

The United Nations describes Africa as “a continent of orphans” and in Ethiopia alone, more than eleven percent of all children are orphans. Children between the ages of 12 and 18 represent the majority of all orphans in all countries studied by UNICEF and UNAIDS. These older children and adolescents often find themselves living on the streets because of limited room in orphanages and overwhelmed families and communities. You can only imagine how vulnerable they are and how limited their prospects are without support. Current estimates indicate that there are nearly 6 million orphans in Ethiopia and our friends at Beyond the Orphanage are doing their best to make a difference in the lives of these older children.

In order to help determine the long-term benefits to each of these preteens and adolescents, we at Karma Yoga Project are designing and implementing a longitudal study. You can be a part of this very important research by making a donation to assist with research and travel expenses. Every dollar you donate will be used to make sure these amazing kids have every opportunity to live a healthy, happy and productive life.
