Sharing the importance of action…
So many of us believe that we are too busy or that we don’t have the essential skills to make a difference. But we are all so much more capable than we think we are. Karma Yoga Project empowers teenagers to make a difference by sharing our story and educating students about the challenges that other teenagers experience locally and globally. Every time we tell a story, teenagers open their hearts and take action. We are inspired by their willingness to make a difference. We also speak to adults in yoga teacher training programs about karma yoga and provide opportunities for them to teach yoga to children and adults who are experiencing significant challenges in their lives.
Projects:
~ February, 2011 – International Club students at Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Arizona started a fundraiser and drive. They made jars and boxes with the slogan “Change for Ethiopia” to collect money and personal care products for older orphans in Ethiopia. They went from class to class to talk with their fellow students about donating their change.
~ February, 2010 – Service Learning students at Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, Arizona collected personal care products for older orphans in Ethiopia.
